Any% (ZA)

This is the Wii ZA (Zora Armor) route for NA 1.0, PAL, and JP Wii versions of Twilight Princess. It is designed as an intermediate-advanced route branching off regular Wii Any%. While estimated to be 3-5 minutes slower than the "RTA" route, it is thought to be more consistent, such that it does Morpheel with ZA, and has the option of routing around Helmasaur LJA and High Midna Dive.

There are two variations of the middle game (more details below), one that does Snowpeak Ruins before Lakebed, the other does Snowpeak Ruins during Lakebed. It is up to the runner what they choose.

Note: while a slightly faster ZA route does exist, aptly named BiTE ZA, it requires almost ten minutes of detours to obtain the Zora Armor and is not considered worthwhile for the BiTE route.

Alternative Routing for Lakebed and Snowpeak

SPR During Lakebed is technically 10-15 seconds slower, but has some benefits to it such as an easier Darkhammer fight / more lenient Snowpeak, as well as rupee routing. It is also more similar to RTA’s Lakebed. However it has to do Helmasaur LJA so this choice of routing comes down to the runner. Here is the route in short:

  • After Lanayru Twilight, warp Castle Town
  • Escort and Zora Armor (same as above)
  • Warp Lake Hylia
  • Enter Lakebed with ZA via pillar clip
  • Savewarp and set EBF
  • Helmasaur LJA
  • Staircase room with Ooccoo
  • Steal lent bag with Ooccoo
  • Small key in cog room
  • Back up to 2F Lakebed
  • Early Deku Toad and Clawshot
  • Back to west hallway
  • Ooccoo out and warp Zora’s Domain
  • Map glitch and Snowpeak Ascent
    • You will likely want to un-equip ZA
  • Snowpeak (same as above, no Ooccoo)
    • If you die to Darkhammer then just continue, as bomb bag is not needed afterwards.
  • Ball and Chain, can savewarp for extra 100R if needed
  • Ooccoo back to Lakebed
  • Clawshot Vine clip into Morpheel
    • Re-equip ZA
  • Defeat Morpheel and continue with route as written

Other Alternatives

  • In Snowpeak Ruins, instead of doing the courtyard bomb boost, you may:
  • In Lakebed, another option is to grab water bombs to open the entrance to Deku Toad. While emptying the lent bag can be slow, it does make the underwater tunnel entrance sequence significantly easier. Example of how you might do it: [needs video]
