Aeralfos

Aeralfos Skip

Discovered by Paraxade

After the battle has begun, perform one of three setups listed below to put Link in a position where it is possible to clawshot the medallion behind the gates. The shot is precise, and the time limit is determined by how long the Aeralfos idles before attacking, which is RNG. The setups are:

  • Press B repeatedly to do a 4-part sword combo, with the control stick neutral for the first three parts and held forward to the notch during the fourth part. Turn 180 degrees, enter first person, and aim.
  • Roll forward once without Iron Boots on, turn 180 degrees, put on the Iron Boots, and roll backwards once with Iron Boots on. Enter first person and aim.
  • Roll backwards once with Iron Boots on, take off the Iron Boots, turn 180 degrees, and roll forward once without Iron Boots on. Turn 180 degrees, enter first person, and aim.

Alternatively, it is possible to find the correct position for the skip without a setup, but there are some positions from which Link will be crushed by the gate and voided out upon reaching the medallion.

To escape the chest enclosure, either savewarp or take damage from the Aeralfos through the gates to deathwarp.

Aeralfos Skip with vertical angle buffering

Setup by iwabi74

This setup yields a consistent vertical angle for the skip. Although optimally it is slightly slower than simply aiming, it may help with consistency, especially since the Aeralfos's attack timer does not run down while the item wheel is pulled up, meaning that it's possible to retry the item wheel buffer many times before running out of time and needing to void to attempt the trick again.

  1. Perform the sword combo position setup described above (the roll position setups do not work for this vertical angle setup)
  2. Turn 180 degrees, enter first person, and aim the camera all the way up; the position setup sometimes shifts Link far enough sideways that aiming the clawshot slightly left is required, so it may be a good idea to nudge the camera slightly left while aiming up
  3. Open the item wheel, hold up notch on the control stick, and close and reopen the item wheel so that the camera aims downward for 3 frames (see visual cue in video)
  4. Close the item wheel again, then, while holding up on the c-stick, press A 3 times to shift the vertical angle down more (no delay between A presses required)
  5. Shoot the clawshot

Aeralfos Skip with Hawkeye

Discovered By Dragonbane0

After performing one of the position setups listed above, zoom in fully on the Hawkeye, aim with the visual cue shown in the video below, and shoot the clawshot. It is easier to adjust the camera small amounts while zoomed in with the Hawkeye. This method is slower than Aeralfos skip without Hawkeye.

Aeralfos 1-Cycle

Discovered by Garm

Hit the Aeralfos with the Boomerang to make it pull out its shield, then use the Clawshot to pull it down to the ground. Take out the Ball & Chain and twirl it to hit the Aeralfos 5 times. The Aeralfos should block the 5th hit. Immediately use the B&C again until the Aeralfos hits Link; these hits will be visibly blocked by the shield but will still damage the Aeralfos. After standing up, take a step towards Aeralfos, hit it with the B&C once, and then throw the Ball & Chain so it finishes the Aeralfos off on returning.

Quick Aeralfos fight (obsolete)

Discovered by LogitechSDAZ

Hit the Aeralfos with either an arrow or the Boomerang to make it pull out its shield, then use the Clawshot to pull it down to the ground. Take out the Ball & Chain, twirl it to hit the Aeralfos 4 times, and release it on the 5th swing. The Aeralfos should block the last attack and counter it, but the Ball & Chain will hit the Aeralfos on its return and end the first phase. For the second phase, grab the Aeralfos with the Clawshot and swing the Ball & Chain like before to defeat it.

Notes

Other Aeralfos fights in the game (such as in Hyrule Castle), only include the first phase of the fight.
