ZeldaSpeedRuns Rebirth

We're back. As you can see, ZeldaSpeedRuns went through some changes today. So, what exactly changed?

The Look

This one is obvious. Hopefully, the new site design will make it easier to navigate between games and through the leaderboards. We hope you like the new style!

Leaderboards

As I mentioned in my previous post a week ago, some categories were removed from the leaderboards. On the other hand, some new categories (and new games) were added, and we have some new functionality along with them. Users can now submit any number of runs for a game and category. Only your fastest run will show up in the main leaderboard table based on the selected filters. (For example, If you submit a Japanese time for OoT Any% and a slower USA time for OoT Any%, your Japanese time will be displayed when the region is set to All or JP, but your USA time will be displayed when it's set to USA.) All of your submitted runs (including old times that you have beaten) will show up on your profile page.

Additionally, runs are now "unverified" by default. They will still show up on the table immediately, but will be slightly grayed-out and missing the verification checkmark. Runs will not be posted by our twitter account until they have been verified. We hope this will discourage fake/spam submissions, while still allowing players to rapidly submit new times. The "World Record" runs listed on the front page will only contain verified runs. The same is true for the top runs shown on each game's main page, so try to include a video with your submission so your run can be verified.

Hosting

We have had some problems with our old host in the past. Sometimes the site was extremely slow, and sometimes it wouldn't respond at all. We have moved to a new host, and we hope that the previous problems will all be resolved.

New Games

Not only have some new games been added to the leaderboards, but they have been added to the main site as well. We're hoping to add a lot more content for the classic Zelda games, such as the releases for the NES and SNES. Not all of the game sections are available yet, as we haven't written enough content for them yet. Soon you should be able to read about glitches and strategies for Adventure of Link and Link's Awakening, just like our section on Ocarina of Time.

This was a long time coming. We hope everyone is happy with the new changes. If you run into any weird bugs, let me (maxx) know on IRC or through twitter.

Enjoy!
